Teaches us how to thrive with beauty and grace by honoring the natural rhythms and cycles of life.
The Rose of Sharon is a species of hibiscus that is considered to be hardy because it can survive the changes of the seasons that it's tropical cousins cannot. This flower is mentioned in sacred texts, like the Bible. Sharon, once a fertile plain, is said to have been transformed by sand dunes into an arid, dry desert where once it had been lush farming and grazing land. Rose of Sharon becomes an example of surviving harsh environments, of the preservation of beauty and grace despite adversity. Watching how she behaves, I have noticed how she protects her expression by honoring her energy within her own life cycle - sharing fully when it is of value and withdrawing when it is not. With her, we can be guided in learning our own life cycle and in honoring our own energy with love and compassion for every stage of our development.
